I fucking LOVED the incorporation of classical music/orchestration, since there's never enough of that kind of feel in this music. My mom always says that BTS has to change as they age throughout their careers, otherwise they themselves along with their fans will just get bored of the same old same old.

New is nice and fresh to me, even if it's not something I'm ready for or will like. What I personally liked about it was the different approach to a MV, since I don't really know any other groups that have done this (correct me if I'm wrong) so I admired the guts of BigHit trying something new. Could they have done better? For sure, but there may be some limitations that were put in place that we just won't know about. My guess is that there were constraints on everything and a bunch of requirements they had to meet on this one and also had to go with big hit's concept.

I was a little bit disappointed in the dance overall because I had watched most of the videos on MN's channel and minus some of the 1 hour full performance videos (which were hella weird), they're actually capable of some beautiful dances and I found this one to be a bit of a let down compared to the other ones uploaded by them. It's not the main track or main track material imho, just an artistic branching out by the group. But I also think the same of the song itself to be honest. I don't think the dance is the greatest most mind blowing thing in the world either, and I don't think a lot of people do. I don't think people hype it up for the dance, it's more the artistic collaboration between big hit /BTS and an international dance company. not saying that it’s bad though, just not the GREATEST MOST MIND-BLOWING THING IN THE WORLD. But obviously, I don’t know how much time they have to prepare the piece and I understand that BTS wanted to raise awareness for smaller artists, and I think it was a good choice to choose MN dance company.īut yeah, I think it looked liked something that even my college based dance company could have produced.

To me, the dance looked a less well constructed than works from larger names (for example, Netherlands dance theater), and even looked messy or that it wasn’t rehearsed enough at some parts. There are parts where they were just off and it seemed like they danced to some other music and it was fan edited to fit the black swan track. BUT, I don’t think the choreography went well with the song. I also can see that the dance company (although small and unheard of) is legitimate as the dancers all have great technique and look professional.

As a professional dancer, I appreciate the use of contemporary dance to convey the message behind this song.
